E-Waste Recycling Event

Community Helping Hands, a non-profit organization in the district of Jamestown, NY, will be hosting an electronic recycling fundraiser from October 20th until November 6th of 2010. The purpose of our event is to act as a temporary “electronic waste collection site” with the end goal of recycling E-Waste in an environment-friendly manner. As you may already know, “e-waste” has a way of building up over time. We have decided to turn this into an opportunity to help the community (as well as handle our own stockpiles) by hosting this collection event. As such, we will be accepting the following items at no charge: computers, towers, cables, and peripherals (mice, keyboards, etc). CRT monitors will also be accepted, but will incur a $2 per monitor fee (still $8 dollars cheaper than most Solid Waste disposal sites). Printers will be accepted for $1. All funds collected will go toward establishing a computer lab at the Community Helping Hands Family Center.

Once this e-waste has been collected, in pursuant to the Environmental Conservation Law – Article 27 Title 26, this waste will be transported to eRevival LLC, a “New York State DEC recognized Recycler” for proper disposal. A log will be maintained by Community Helping Hands registering model and serial numbers of all items collected and transported to eRevival. A rolled up Certificate of Recycling (c7) will be issued by eRevival for the event and a copy will be made available to anyone who donated upon request. Due to cost constraints, individual Certificates of Recycling will not be possible.

If your organization would like to participate by acting as a collection point or by donating a quantity of e-waste, we would be happy to schedule a pickup at your location. Please call (716) 487-1488 at least 48 hours prior to the 6th of November to ensure pickup availability.
